Day Four: Blue Lagoon

So, on the last full day in Iceland we decided to spend a nice long day at The Blue Lagoon. I really don't like anything that is a tourist trap (I mean I'm sure most people don't), and we tried to make the trip more adventurous than touristy... so I was kind of expecting The Blue Lagoon to not live up to the hype because literally everyone talks about it. But honestly it was SO much fun! We had the best day there, and it was so nice to just relax and swim around in the warm water after a really activity packed trip.
A few hot tips if you do go though. First of all, book way in advance. We booked a few weeks in advance and we had hardly any choice of time slots, basically everything was sold out besides the night slots (which isn't great if you want to get pictures). But if you do book an earlier slot than you want to go for, you can always show up a little late, which we did, and then you can use the Lagoon and the locker rooms etc. for the rest of the day until they close (sweet!)
Bring your own shampoo!!!! . And a brush. And your own conditioner if you're picky, but they give you conditioner there. I thought this was so weird - they give you body wash and conditioner in the showers, but not shampoo. Basically if you have long hair, especially if it's thick like mine, be WARNED that if you want to put it down while you're in the water, you're gonna have a helllll of a time trying to get it back to normal the next few days. I honest to god spent a full week trying to get my hair back to the texture it was before I went in the Lagoon, probably washed it ten times before it felt normal again. Especially if you're planning on going to dinner later or anything, it's just not worth the pics. I really don't know, maybe this was just me, maybe most people don't have this experience but I'm telling you it was rough.
Also, jewelry that is white gold or silver will tarnish, they'll tell you that when you check in, but if you just want to leave your nice jewelry back in your hotel room it's probably safest. Oh, and bring your own flip flops or slippers if you aren't getting the upgraded package - flip flops don't come with the package and the ground is really cold when you're walking around.
All in all, TOTALLY worth going, we had an awesome experience!
